New Year's Answers.

I came across these questions from the wonderful blog of All & Sundry...

These are my answers for the following questions:

1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?

I now have two chickens to help reduce my food bill. I always thought that chickens are a bit ugly however I have fallen in love with them. They both have there own personality. They make me smile every day.

I also volunteered at the local Community Festival and loved it. Not too sure if I will have the time this year hopefully I will.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

No, I didn't keep any of my new year's resolutions.

Didn't lose the weight, didn't stop complaining, didn't get the house organised, de-cluttered, cleaned etc.

Needless to say, these are my new resolutions.... as well as completing my certificate in Interior Design and listening more to my kids and husband and try not to yell too much and eat my chicken's eggs, for some reason I just can't eat them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

No

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Yes, my niece's little girl (aged 16 months). It was so sad and she is greatly missed every day.

5. What countries did you visit?

None

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?

A small place in the country (not too far from the beach) where I (and my husband) can have some land to have chickens, goats and lots of vegetable patch.

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

February 22, the day we lost Princess Bella.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

I changed jobs into an area that I am interested in and found it harder than expected but still enjoyable.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not understanding or listening to my children. I really need to listen to both of my boys, they do know somethings...

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Yes, I hurt my calf and I now have tennis elbow which really restricts my training.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My mixmaster, just love it. It only cost $99.

12. Where did most of your money go?

Supporting my oldest child at university for the first six months until he quit :(. Also, my husband buying lots on things on-line for his car.

13. What did you get really excited about?

My oldest moving out to go to university (even though it didn't work out). He getting an apprenticeship and sticking with it. My youngest getting into the advanced drama group at his school and him making some great friends (he has trouble making and keeping friends due to his disability). Getting a new position in an area that I have never worked in. Going away on week-end trips just hubby and I.

14. What song will always remind you of 2011?

Breathe by The Prodigy, it is used for a TV ad for beer which makes me smile as it's my husband favourite ad.

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:

– happier or sadder? Hmmm, probably about the same.
– thinner or fatter? fatter by about 4 kilos.
– richer or poorer? richer due to both of us working full-time.

16. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Spent time with my boys and husband, listened more, made time for friends (I was really bad at this). Exercised more, of course. Looked after myself better.

17. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Complaining, gossiping, watching TV and playing on the computer.

18. How did you spend Christmas?

Had a great Christmas, just spent it at home with my boys. Had loads of food and spent time with each other. Best yet, no fighting, not even my boys. It was very relaxing.

19. What was your favorite TV program?

Grand Designs (the English one), Escape to the Country and How clean is your house? (There is a theme here).

20. What were your favorite books of the year?

When My Husband Does the Dishes by Kerri Sackville. So funny and so close to my life. She also has a blog, Life and other Crises.

21. What was your favorite music from this year?

Breathe, Sexy and I know it (I sing this to my two teenager boys) and moves like Jagger.

22. What were your favorite films of the year?

Not too sure as I didn't see many films. I still want to see Bridemaids.

23. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

On my birthday I went to work and had lunch with three beautiful friends, got very spoilt and came home and had take-away for dinner with my boys.

24. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Listened more and be better organised. Not leaving every thing to the last minute.

25. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?

Black, that right I only wear black at the moment as I need to lose weight. Doesn't black make you look slimmer.

26. What kept you sane?

My husband and kids. They are also prepared to tell me when to 'pull my head in' when needed.

My oldest friends, they always make me feel 'normal' when we meet every three months for dinner.

27. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.

To trust your instincts. So many times I had a feeling to contact someone and don't to find out that they needed someone due to illness, death, sadness or good news.

Also, believe in my children. They do know something.

Ok, here are my answers, I hope you enjoy reading them.
